Tree & Flower Facts:
The White Chestnut is a large deciduous tree that is widely cultivated throughout the temperate world.  It grows to 35 m tall, with a domed crown of stout branches.  The leaves are opposite and palmately compound and the flowers are white with a small red spot.  The flowers bloom in the spring with  fruit developing on each panicle.  The fruit is a green, softly spiky capsule containing one nut-like seed called a chestnut, also known as a conker. The conker is a glossy nut-brown with a whitish scar at the base.  The White Chestnut is cultivated for its spectacular spring flowers that can withstand a range of climatic conditions provided summers are not too hot.  In more southern areas, growth is best in cooler mountain climates.  In Britain, the nuts are used for the popular children's game Conkers.  In the past, chestnut seeds were used in France and Switzerland for whitening hemp, flax, silk and wool.

Tree & Flower Meaning:

Calmness, Clarity, Concentration, Focus, Meditation, and Relaxation
Bloom and Blossom - Root and Grow:
The White Chestnut flower is helpful for those who suffer from extreme mental agitation.  Their thinking life is not free, but is highly compulsive and obsessive.  The life energy is drained through excessive worry and anxiety, which is not directed outwards toward others but is kept inside through a constant churning of the mind.  Daily events, conversations, or other life episodes are continually replayed and analyzed, imprisoning the soul within the mental field.  Such persons may suffer from insomnia, headaches, and other neurological disorders.  They will often become addicted to sleeping pills, tranquilizers, aspirin, or other painkillers in an effort to subdue the mental pain and tension which they feel.  White Chestnut helps such persons regain mental repose and inner peace.  It redirects the extreme congestion of energy in the mental field, helping the individual to gain more awareness in the feeling life, especially in the solar plexus and in the heart.  When these energy centers are re-balanced, the feelings are able to be processed before they become churning thoughts.  White Chestnut frees the mental life for the calm, clear, and spacious activity of the Higher Mind.  The
colors that represent White Chestnut are white, pink, red and yellow.

The positive qualities of White Chestnut are:  Tranquil disposition, and spacious mental state that transcends personal or petty thoughts.
