Plant Facts:
A vine is any plant of genus Vitis (the grape plants) or, by extension, any similar climbing or trailing plant.  A vine is a growth form based on long, flexible stems.  This has two purposes. A vine may use rock exposures, other plants, or other supports for growth rather than investing energy in a lot of supportive tissue, enabling the plant to reach sunlight with a minimum investment of energy.  The vine growth form may also enable plants to colonize large areas quickly, even without climbing high.  Most vines are flowering plants.  Gardeners can use the tendency of climbing plants to grow quickly.  If a plant display is wanted fast a climber can achieve this.  Climbers can be trained over walls, pergolas, fences etc.  Climbers can be grown up other plants to provide additional attraction.  Artificial support can also be provided.  Some climbers climb by themselves; others need work, such as tying them in and training them.

Plant Meaning:

Ambition, Authority, Influence, Leadership, Tolerance, and Will
Bloom and Blossom:
The Vine personality possesses a strong will, with considerable power and force for leadership and organizational tasks.  However, when these will forces are not aligned with the true Higher Self, they become selfish instead of selfless.  The Vine soul type tends to impose its will on others, rather than leading them to their own power and self-awareness.  The compulsive need to be in control creates a personality that is authoritative, domineering, tyrannical, and at its extreme, sadistic.  The spiritual lesson for such an individual is contained in the words of Christ, "I am the Vine and ye are the branches."  When the Vine soul type shifts identification from the lower willful self to the Higher Self, he or she learns that the essence of true leadership is not the ability to demand obedience from others, but rather inner obedience and devotion to a higher spiritual authority.  The Vine helps such a soul to acquire true humility by realizing that spiritual service is the essence of authentic leadership.  When such a soul shifts its archetypal consciousness form that of a king who rules to that of a shepherd who serves, the will forces become spiritualized and truly able to do good for others and for the Earth.  The
color that represents Vine is green.

The positive qualities of Vine are:  Selfless service, recognition of the individuality of others; and inner authority derived from connection to higher spiritual identity.
