Chestnut Bud Aesculus hippocastanum (green)
Tree & Flower Facts: The Common chestnut is a large deciduous tree and is widely cultivated throughout the world. The flowers are white with a small red spot and bloom in the spring. Usually only 1-5 fruits develop on each branch. The fruit is a green, softly spiky capsule containing one (rarely two or three) nut-like seeds called chestnuts. Chestnuts are glossy nut-brown with a whitish scar at the base. In the past, chestnut seeds were used for whitening hemp, flax, silk and wool. They also contain a soapy juice fit for washing of linens. The nuts are steeped in cold water, which soon becomes frothy, as with soap, and then turns white as milk. Linen washed in this liquid, and afterwards rinsed in clear running water, takes on an agreeable light sky-blue colour. It takes spots out of both linen and woollen, and never damages or injures the cloth.

Bloom and Blossom - Root and Grow: Chestnut Bud is used to help break free of overly repetitive and habitual patterns which hinder the soul's full development. It is helpful where there is a constant repetition of life experience without the ability of the soul to glean wisdom and insight. Chestnut Bud particularly stimulates the cognitive capacities so that the individual is able to grasp more completely and more rapidly the essential nature of the experience at hand, and learn the appropriate lessons. In this way, the individual is freed from the compulsive need to repeat mistakes and re-create regressive patterns. This bud is obviously helpful in many learning situations, and is also useful in a broader way when the soul needs to break through deeply resistant karmic patterns. The color that represents Chestnut Bud is green. The positive qualities of Chestnut Bud are: Ability to cultivate life wisdom, understanding the laws of karma; and intelligence derived from life experience.
